16 year old presenting for Gynecomastia surgery. What is the right age for teenagers? On one hand the teasing is greatest amongst youngsters, leading to a lot of angst about “man boobs.” On the other hand, the surgeon wants to make sure that their male growth, mainly around puberty, has run its course. Each case is different. This 16 year old had been several years post puberty with no sign of breast involution or further growth. The results are early (6 weeks) and the scars will mature a lot, but it’s hard to get a 16 year old to return for more photos once they are happy with results!
